Stolen Text!? Straight, gay, bipedaling quickly Ranma!?

Well, I think that if you make Ranma lesbian instead of a straight girl, then MAYBE it'll be more believable for me.

It has to be SLOW though.

Like, first he starts missing out on ice cream, then he notices how much less he can't get away with (which wasn't much to begin with) then the pressure to be manly starts really, really getting to him, sees how much Akane, Nabiki, Ukyo, Shampoo, Kodachi excreta get to do what they want and get away with everything practically for abuse and whatnot, but, most of all, you could have him image what would happen if he was born a she... THAT could be REALLY played well if you do it right. However, adding "Starts to lose attraction to girls and starts liking guys" has bugged me ever since I started reading fanfiction. It seems to cheapen it for me because it's so acceptable for it to HAVE to be a guy and a girl.

It's what really pissed me off at many rankofics.

Then Ranma goes so darn girly that it makes Kasumi look like a tomboy.

Besides, many Mtf's are lesbians anyway.

I favor Ranma being/becoming a lesbian, myself. It irks me when any character's sexual preferences change simply because their body changes, particularly if there's any mention of hormones being involved. I think it's a cop out, regardless of what science someone throws in my face. I know that last part sounds stupid, but I'd like to think that humans have come further away from being rutting animals than that, and that we can exercise mind over matter to decide what we want in this matter. (If that wasn't the case, I wonder how I have no interest in sex and plan to stay a virgin even until the day I die. Maybe I'm just a defective model. ;/ )

For me, if I ever write a story where Ranma ends up with a guy, it's going to be because Ranma loves him enough to look beyond the physical. I'm all for the sappy love, alright? I want relationships to mean something, have some depth, beyond, "I'm this sex, they're the opposite sex, my hormones are screaming at me and OH MY GOD WHAT CHOICE DO I HAVE!?"

And that's how the dinosaurs went extinct.

Not going to go into the philosophical discussion and am going to try to not get into the political one. But if you suppose that Ranma's mind changes to a female one when in cursed form and has all the hormones therein would be entirely plausible for Ranma to be 'straight' in both forms. Honestly though in terms of fics don't care either way. Read good ones from every side of that particular issue makes no difference to me. The ones where he is both though depending on form are the most interesting to me though but that's simply due to rarity.

Actually, now that I think about it, one of my older stories has Ranma-chan and Akane getting it on. It's called Shampooed and Confused. You might want to check it out sooner rather than later because I'll probably revise it a bit so the couple only gets as far as kissing and petting instead of performing gymnastics in bed. XD

If I had to give an answer for why there isn't much in the way of yuri these days, it's probably due to a number of things. The first is probably the universal answer for every circumstance: that's just how today's crowd thinks. It's at least partly because guys can't exactly have a vicarious experience from a girl's point of view, if not completely due adhering to some convention or another. But I'd say that it's mainly because the ones who do write yuri aren't going to go halfway with some fluff, so instead of a place like FF.net they'll take their raunchy work to some shady area of the Internet, like a lot of porn is.

I think the lack of Yuri in general comes from the fact that most fanfic writers are female and similar to how many men find a lesbian fantasy attractive many woman find that the opposite is true. But maybe I'm just mistaken since I prefer plot and sex only if it adds to the plot and story. If I want porn or sexual fantasies I don't find it with fanfiction.
