Going off of Dumble's prostitute idea and adding Spok's online idea mix and...online idol. That'd be sufficiently embarrassing for Ranma and a funny plot point by itself.

Well there is Porn. But outside of that Glenn Beck seems to be making enough income for his business to keep growing. So I can't claim there isn't money there. But most are more like The Spoony Experiment which due to not making enough videos recently has had to increase the number of advertisements in the videos to help bring in enough banner ad income to help cover the rent in his home. Even with living with his police officer brother.

Online idol is basically like a webcam girl kind of thing. They take pictures and videos of themselves in varying degrees of risque-ness, write blog posts, respond to their 'fans', offer their opinion on issues, etc. Lots of things along that line. It doesn't have to be political, reviewy, or overt porn overmuch really.

Ick... none of those last few would appeal to me in the least except the inventor one...

That also could tie her into the Angelic layer thing, not perhaps with Iccan... but the media and marketing end of the franchise...

Yeah I'm more a fan of the inventor one myself, does play her nicely against her usual type.

I'll keep the inventor idea in mind, but are there any others we've yet to explore fully? Like, if she were an adventurer/explorer, involved with a magical society or world (which is kept secret, or is in another dimension, respectively), or simply related to a rich family. What kind of series comes to mind for those? What if she's a UFO? A youkai? A kami?

There are still so many possibilities. XD

Allot of questions without real jobs intrinsic to them. There are jobs like Setsuna's oft mentioned fashion designer or teacher situations. I could easily see Nodoka in just about any career but relating them to a series isn't so easy. I mean think about something like Read or Die. Almost anyone working for the English Library in Japan would have to be something of an adventurer if they get called on to help The Paper or other agents in finding things for their collection.

But most series don't have much in the way of obvious jobs that you could just stick a parent not related to that series characters into.
