Query about the Koi Rod of Love

I need some info about this item...

1: how long does the rod itself stay enchanted? Can it be used repeatedly until destroyed, does it run on 'charges' or is it a once-off (bar being used to remove koi marks) deal?

2: what happens to a person once marked with the koi? Do they remain in love with the caster until the koi mark is pulled off, does it wear off after a time, or does it eventually become permanent?

3: I think I recall that the koi mark eventually fades- does it? If yes, does this tie into the above question?

4: what happens if someone besides the original caster tries to pull off a koi mark? Does it cure the target, or simply cause them to switch who they love?

The answer to most of these questions is not in the source material only thing in the manga is that the mark starts small and develops into a full sized fish as the mark gets bigger the love grows with it. That the mark could be removed via the fishing rod was good luck on Ryoga's part. btw... it didn't fade until ripped off of Ranma by the koi rod.

So likely the love would have been there forever if Ryoga didn't accidentally rip off the mark.
