Some Inuyasha questions

Talk about other General Anime and Manga Series here

Postby SpaceKnight of Chaos » Wed Apr 01, 2009 2:54 am

I was just wondering; is the half-demon Gyu-oh, from the 4th season two parter "The Sacred Jewel Maker", an anime-only character or does he have his roots in the manga? This is the son of a female bull demon and a male human scholar, who assumes a human form by day and a demonic form at night. Sharing his human father's love for beauty, especially birds and flowers, he despises the night and his demon form not only because he is ugly, but because birds find him so repulsive that they flee and his breath causes flowers to wilt. He initially tries to create a new Jewel of Four Souls to transform himself wholly into a human, but in the end is satisfied when he dies as a human.
Water, water, everywhere, and all was cursed and black!
Drowned ones cast bad spell and out come pig, girl, duck, panda!
Swirl, swirl, slithery pond, and join with magic spring!
Swirl, swirl, dirty pond, and rid the cursed sting!
Here my prayer, I beg you please!
Now turn these curses BACK!

Some season 5-inspired questions.
Firstly, what sort of weapon is Banryu, the favorite weapon of Bankotsu of the Band of Seven? Dub and sub both calls it a "halberd", but it looks like a zanbato with a moon-shaped spear on the bottom of the hilt.

Secondly, how did Banryu become a demon weapon, and what powers does it have as a demon weapon? The anime says it changed after being used to kill 1000 warlords and 1000 demons.

Third, was Banryu destroyed alongside its master?

Finally, what are the known backstories for the individual members of the Band of Seven?

I know that the second Inuyasha anime series, called "Inuyasha: The Final Act", is intended to cover in 26 episodes the events of the last few manga volumes. I also know that it has finished airing on television in Japan. Can anyone confirm for me whether or not there are any plans for it to be licensed for dubbing? If yes, does anyone know when it may be availible in Region 4 (Australiasia)?

I wouldn't be surprised if Viz had the rights to it before it began airing in Japan. (Or do they still hold the rights to Inu-Yasha, in general?)

Viz is still translating the Manga. As for the Anime I don't know. However just cause Viz is doing the translating in the U.S. another company could be responsible for it outside of the U.S.

Sorry for the double post I just noticed this didn't get answered. The answer is he's Anime only.

My grasp of Japanese words is rather poor, and this is something I admit. Can anyone tell me all of the various "Japanese names" given by Totosai for the spiritual power users in the Inuyasha special feature "Behind the Feudal Fairytale", included in the DVD for the final episodes of season 6? I made out Hoshi (for Buddhist Monks like Miroku), Miko (for Shinto priestesses like Kikyo), and I believe the Taoist Sage (like Tokijin) name was "Sannin", but I couldn't make out the name him gave for the Exorcists, which he described as secular wielders of spiritual power who use that power to battle yokai.
