There was at least one other story - "A Certain Cursed Fighter," by some madao. Unfortunately, the author completely removed the story from both fanfiction.net and his blog, for whatever reason. I think I have all of the chapters (four) that were originally released.

I've created another test sketch, but don't have access to a good scanner, at the moment, so...

Well, I've had an odd idea (predates even the first sketch, above, but it's not related to the sketch) - what if Ranma discovers she's actually a Mikoto clone? :twisted:

And, ironically, Genma is NOT one of the people who have lied to her... but if not him, then who?

Well, here's the next 'attempt...' It's a rough, quick test sketch (pencil only). I gave Ranma the bike shorts, anyway, just for the sake of argument, along with the Mikoto-style socks. She's actually sitting on a bench (and slightly coming to attention), but the background details haven't been added yet (it IS a test sketch, remember, not a production sketch ^_^; )

Yes, but they're not as easy to run and maneuver in as regular sneakers.

Which kind of shoes do you think Ranma would choose (if she couldn't wear her cloth shoes with her school uniform)?

Which is why Ranma probably Would wear them. Force herself to have better balance and speed while wearing them, after all training is training...

But if Ranma was to choose anything besides the traditional cloth Chinese slippers, I see something that would offer good support and also be durable while flexable... Military combat jump boots/jungle boots come to mind

Given a choice, IMO, Ranma probably wouldn't want to wear heels (outside of a disguise). And the average Japanese school uniform policies don't allow girls to stray from the base uniform set too much... the sneakers and bike shorts are probably already pushing it. ^_^;

I've always suspected that Japanese schools are less likely to allow girls to get away with violating the uniform code than boys. Not that I can prove that, however.

I've never seen Ranma make a big deal over the uniform, to be honest. He's worn the proper uniforms on occasion, but Fuurinkan does seem to be a bit lax on enforcing it just for him.

Of course, it's also possible the boys' uniform might be a little more concealing of his 'condition,' given the right circumstances (especially if he binds his chest). Or Takahashi didn't want Ranma to become another Ryuunosuke. Who knows?

I've had the impression that the Academy in Railgun would probably be more strict on the uniform code than Fuurinkan, though, even given the pants Mikoto wears underneath her uniform skirt.

Ranma use to wear the school uniforms in junior high without complaint...(well maybe Genma complained about spending the money for something Ranma was only going to wear for long enough to get caught up in school again...) and the boys uniform for Furikan would probably be more painful for girl type Ranma to wear, even binding her chest probably wouldn't help as her frame is much smaller than his while her chest is probably significantly larger due to the...Healthy...development. So if Ranma has to go to school as a girl, he would grumble about that, not wearing said uniform. Though She might take a few liberties like the bike shorts, plus the footwear requirement in most Japanesse schools is students must wear quite shoes in the buildings. I don't think it matters what they wear durring non school events or off site events. Just saying...

Obviously, I'm approaching this from the 'realistic' side.

If anyone decides to write such a story, they can write girl-Ranma going to school without a uniform, as Ranma did at Fuurinkan, if they want. I won't mind.

I do have difficulty believing (the school Mikoto attends in Railgun) wouldn't be more strict about the uniform code than Fuurinkan, however, since it's more of a private/special academy.

I only really mentioned Ranma dressing in the boys' school uniform and binding her chest to draw parallels with Ryuunosuke, and that there's a chance it would hide her form and changes more than other clothes Ranma wears - which Takahashi couldn't normally have, as that could wreak havoc with the comedic possibilities. (Or not. Who knows?)

The 'outdoor shoes' are part of the school-requisitioned uniforms in Japan, as far as I'm aware. However, I'm not sure whether or not the students also have to buy the 'indoor shoes,' as well as the possible third pair of shoes for P.E.
