Here's the idea. Instead of just Shampooing Akane Shampoo sees Girl Type Ranma around and shampoos her as well. Problem is because she isn't really an obstacle what she is trying to erase isn't there. What she really does end up erasing is Ranma's ideas of what is important about being Male. Anything Genma has either through action or complaint reinforced as part of being "A Guy" is suppressed. Along with why its important that Ranma is one.

Shampoo's target on Akane was making her forget Ranma. But because the names are the same with Girl type Ranma she was trying to erase Girl type's feelings on guys. Just to play it safe.

How long does it take for the others to figure it out? Does Ranma still try as hard to get Akane to remember him?

How does this change Ranma's behavior? Does it change it? Would this last long? It took allot of insults to make Akane snap out of it.

Should something like this lead to a split personality? I personally don't think so but what other consequences could there be for this? How would this change Ranma's perspective and the interractions in series after that point in time?

Think about how Akane acted around Ranma. The memories even current of Ranma even being there or someone she knows just didn't stick.

On Ranma all associations of being male are what is suppressed. After the curse is triggered if its noticed its for a moment or two but the connection is suppressed to the point where it might not matter. Or you could have constant declaration of womanhood reactions but that takes Ranma seeing it as wrong some how.

Or you could just go the route that the change is too much for the technique to hold up to and have that end it but that kinda deflates the chances of this being fun to do.
