Drinking age in Europe, and I think the UK, is much lower than in the US. She probably had wine or champenge at parties with her parents.

I really doubt the drinking age is THAT low.
I found a site that has a few. It seems that 18 is the legal drinking age in the UK.

Heh... have to agree there... As a UK'ite I can tell you that the 18 thing? Means Jack Diddly, especially in a party type setting. Hell the transition from high scholl (16) to sixth form/ college its more or less an unsaid tradition to get titless.
Besides couldn't she do the whole disguise thing? It probably would make it a lot easier.

The number of shots it took to put Michiru out wasn't really believable, though. The most alchohol you can get in a shot of something, relative to a shot of 'normal' 86 or 100 proof liquor, would be 200 proof pure alchohol. So three shots of anything can never be more than about seven shots of 86 proof liquor.
Haruka passing out after around twelve shots I can buy, but seven shots is just a little low, even for a slightly built woman. If it were me, I'd say she drank at least four of the 'firewine'.
Though for reference, speaking as a person who has done shots of grain alcohol (190 proof), it's absolutely fucking disgusting, makes your stomach hurt, and generally isn't something you'd willing drink more than 1-2 shots of without either already being really trashed or mixing it with a lot of juice or punch. Unless the flavor is created magically or by nanomachines or something ;p

Not just Japanese.
East Asians (Japan, China, Korea, etc.) almost uniformly have low alcohol tolerance as a race. IIRC, it's because they've got fewer of the stomach enzymes that neutralize and break alcohol up.
Just as women have fewer than men, partly from size and partly from relative inefficency.

Stupid question.. How much this "shot" is? In terms of milliliters? In fics and books i allways read "two shot" that, "four shots" this... In Russia we use a different system, so this "shot's" totally alien to me...

Shot glasses are one to two ounces (~30 to 60 milliliters) in my admittedly limited experience, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were three ounce (~90ml) and four ounce glasses (~120ml) out there. I'd be surprised if they got bigger than that, though; it sort of defeats the purpose of the "shot" name.
By personal choice I don't drink alcohol at all.
