I'm fond of NanoFate as well.

Mamoru is already making one serious mistake in trying to court Nanoha, though neither side is in a position to notice yet - even though he knew Nanoha's name from the very beginning, he has consistently thought of her as 'the princess'.

Of course, if Mamoru breaks Nanoha's heart the way he did to Usagi several times in the anime, he'll have a lot worse than the scorn of the Senshi to worry about. Things such as a little girl with an enormous magical sledgehammer looking to break something more corporeal.

Huh... is this a Nanoha/Mamaru match? Based on the author notes at the end, I had thought it was not.

Sorry, wasn't clear enough.

I'm partially agreeing with the author. I was thinking that in the event that a relationship between Mamoru and Nanoha was attempted it wouldn't work because Nanoha wouldn't take it well. I don't think that Nanoha-in-rehab is going to enjoy Luna, Mamoru, or someone else suggesting it since she's already somewhat depressed and upset about her lack of magical ability, and that would set Fate off too given how protective Fate already is.

When Usagi and Mamoru first met, Usagi wasn't particularly mature. She was still mentally very much a child, barely out of the 'Boys=Cooties' stage, so a fuzzy feeling when meeting a strange guy was strange and confusing. Insulting her grades also didn't endear him to her. Usagi/Mamoru got off on the wrong foot so to speak, that they got together at all is a miracle (or a deus ex)

Nanoha started out much more mature at a young age and grew up understanding and taking responsibilities, even if she's the same 14-15 that Usagi starts out the series as, she's still far better equipped to handle the situation. Even if Fate's trying to keep it from imposing itself on her.

Mamoru's handling things with Nanoha much better, but still was coming from the wrong angle of 'she's my destined princess'.

I can see Nanoha doing that just to tease him and with a few well placed off hand comments along with a few highstrung senshi hiding nearby listening in they might think he is the real earth prince since Luna has confirmed Nanoha is their princess.
