Re: Strained Harmony ch5

The doubled consonant is how the missionaries who invented romaji decided to transliterate the small tsu sound. It is actually pronounced as a slight pause in the word.

Re: Strained Harmony ch5

An article I read on vintage sewing machines said that it's mostly because these days we can calculate the precise strain each part will be under and know how sturdy to make the parts for them to last the projected lifecycle of the product. Back then, they didn't know at all and just made things as ...

Re: Strained Harmony ch5

[Woo! Glad someone got the Pfaff reference. They really are very sturdy machines. Singers too, if yours was made before they switched to plastic parts. 1964, I believe. I have one that belonged to my mother, and her mother before her. If I ever have children it probably has at least another generat...

Re: Strained Harmony ch5

Yet another wonderful chapter. When Ranma started cooking for the breakfast-in-bed scene, Pandora decided that Eye of the Tiger was appropriate mood music. I cannot disagree.

I think Nabiki's best bet is the police. Sure, she'll have to make restitution, but the other two choices...

Re: Windborne ch3 R.5 / SM

I should point out that I really enjoyed the limey battle with self-control while the senshi disbelieved her mind-whammy. I suspect Ami might believe after the fairy glitter wears off.

Re: Windborne ch3 R.5 / SM

So this is back. Dug up my old account to express my pleasure. You say there's more coming? I can't think what I've done lately to deserve such good tidings.

Are you thinking of Mirrors Multiplied? I'm pretty sure I remember her thinking he was a bug in that and whacking him in to parallel universes every time she spots him.

Re: Locked by Biology

Well, there's "Alternate Landings" by Shadow Dancer. Written in 1997, hosted on geocities, and never finished. It features Ranma falling in spring of drowned /little/ girl. (S)he gets on great with Akane because she loves little girls in an Oingo Boingo sort of way, but then breaks her leg...

Re: Lesbians in Ranma 1/2

Suika Roberts does occasionally update. You just have to look in the "Drafts" folder. He(?) hasn't finished anything in years, but has updated as recently as July.

Re: [R 1/2][SM*] Generation Lost ch10

I got the impression that unlike Ryouga's magically applied layer of makeup, since she is the template and the template is her she just decides what her "makeup" should look like and that's how she looks, so it wouldn't wash off while swimming. It's less like "makeup" and more li...

Re: Dreams of 9

Delurking to say I liked it better when it said "wasn't without a certain amount." Litotes are my favorite literary device, if you couldn't tell from my post... two years ago? That's almost as bad as my lurking on TFF.

I agree. 'til in this context is short for 'until.'

Alternatively you could say "to first blood" instead.

Actually, contrary to what your fourth grade English teacher always told you, a double negative is acceptable under certain circumstances. It's called a litote. It can be used to say "not X (but not necessarily Y)" or as an understatement to say "very much Y." Like "He was n...

Hmm... I was pretty sure it was Sakaki, but I suppose it could have been Kasumi. Of course, it could have been done more than once.

Desperately searching for Ranma/Azumanga crossover

Long time lurker, first time poster. I remember reading a ranma/azumanga crossover once which had a scene in which Ranma meets Sakaki and has the sudden urge to bite her and doesn't know why. Unfortunately, that's all I can remember of it, so I've had no luck trying to find it on google. First to fi...
