Re: Anything Goes Student’s

I just realize something despite the point of the engagement being about uniting the two schools No it isn't. It's to "secure the future of the Tendo Dojo." Nothing ever about "uniting the schools" or even if the "schools" even need to be reunited. And Genma "enga...

Re: Interesting stuff in canon

What part of Akane’s behavior seemed understanding especially considering the way the Tendo's and Akane were treating him basically arguing about not wanting him, treating him like an object, and insulting him. She called him a freak and pervert while absolving herself of responsibility for walking...

Re: Ranma trains with Akane - AKA: Another fanon trope is wr

They are training in the same time and place. They are very blatantly NOT training together as in WITH each other. Yes they're right now using separate facilities. Answer the question: Seriously what makes MORE SENSE? That two people who are very close and spend a lot of time together will also com...

Re: Commonality of Magic in Ranma 1/2

It may have been a design flaw :P Early Li-Ion batteries without overcurrent protection or such, distributed among armor pieces. Throwing a punch draws a current pulse, then the shock of impact jostles poorly placed/over-miniaturized components. Boom. Orrrr it's a complete mass produced product sol...

Re: Ranma trains with Akane - AKA: Another fanon trope is wr

Wrong. Very very wrong. Unless you count practising moves on other people in slow motion as either sparring or forms. There's also the very basic "follow my lead", which is very common. Yes that's exactly what I mean. No, that means they're sharing a training location. Which can mean just...

Re: Commonality of Magic in Ranma 1/2

It's not a prototype. It's a completed product. Like, the power armor we see is literally more advanced with its set up then it would have to give by default. It was set to self-destruct after getting a single punch in, which meant it had to be able to detect when the user got in their punch. This w...

Re: Ranma trains with Akane - AKA: Another fanon trope is wr

The fact that they're both training out at the same time means that they're training together. Your perspective has been warped by fanon to the point that actual canon is being dismissed and ignored. Like, you do realize that martial arts practice is mostly singular activities? You practice forms, y...

Re: Commonality of Magic in Ranma 1/2

It's absurdly common to the point where magic items are mass produced and sold in souvenir shops. I think in the Ranma 1/2 universe "magic" is common enough BUT the most encountered versions are usually passed off as a trick or something similar, slight of hand and such. No it's not. I'd g...

Re: Ranma trains with Akane - AKA: Another fanon trope is wr

/me looks at OP image. Well, I get a rather different scene from that image: They are close together, but they are training separately while sharing training space. Why separately? They are training in two different things (chops v punches) and not assisting each other. Because that's not what's th...

Re: Ranma trains with Akane - AKA: Another fanon trope is wr

No, their styles are not even remotely similar, and while Ranma is definitely better, much better, styles do NOT change because you get better at it. And learning from outside your baseline style still does not alter that baseline style. Even fusing multiple martial arts nearly always still show wh...

Ellen Kuhfeld wrote:If it doesn't exist, why are you so fussy about the nomenclature and details?

Because it's not literally anything! You're factually wrong about this!

It's not "details" it's that not everything under the sun is Ranma and Akane's fighting style.

Re: Head Canon

The chapter is canon, the future RESULTS of the chapter is fanon. Otherwise there's a number of things that would be canon earlier, except for never actually happening. You can't have one without the other. The author wrote a chapter in her story that proclaimed a future event would happen, and the...

Re: Ranma trains with Akane - AKA: Another fanon trope is wr

If I learned and taught "Musabetsu Kakuto Ryu", and due to a trademark dispute with Happosai renamed my branch "Fred", would it still be the same? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. You can't teach it because it doesn't exist. Let's just admit that there is not enoug...

But they're not "Musabetsu Kakuto Ryu" the fictional martial arts school that exists in Ranma 1/2.

Re: Ranma trains with Akane - AKA: Another fanon trope is wr

It's the name of a fighting style, not some kind of all absorbing philosophy. It's a joke, a martial arts style basically being named "Dirty fighting"
