Re: Favourite Youtube videos v2.0

Driving across the bottom of a lake https://youtu.be/6cFrkr8zHxA?t=908 So nostalgic and so sad, that was the same model as our last car. We sold it in the nineties (as soon as the family of wagtails finished raising their young in their nest under the hood) because I deemed having a car impractical...

Re: Favourite Youtube videos v2.0

This 8-minute cartoon sums up what I think the nature of One Piece is. Much better than I could put it in words. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cw7aAFS5oc I saw this more than a year ago and wanted to share it but I lost the link and only found that video now, purely by accident. You wa...

Re: Weirdness: Round three

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicksilva — The label is older than that, mind. IIRC, I first saw ads for Quicksilva games around the time the ZX Spectrum hit the shops. I don't think those two are the same company. The info i found stated specifically that it was started in 1987, and that was activ...

Re: Weirdness: Round three

I bought a used CD with British medieval songs and tunes a few weeks ago. It was first back home that I noted the marketing label it was sold under. That label had me going totally blink-blink-wtf. Quicksilva. Apparently the label pioneered selling CDs from 1987, at LP prices, so the name is probab...

Re: Favourite Youtube videos v2.0

You don't even need the train -- just the tracks. 11 ft 8 inch . The guy found this so interesting he set up video cameras to record it. This is eight years of crashes; individual crashes are also available in greater detail. Dear goodness... :? You think they would learn, that the factual knowledg...

Oh, Sheep! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY5MmhLQBng Shepherds trying to keep then herds from intermingling. When they finally succeed... whey wish they didn't. I smell a metaphor for national borders somewhere in there. Oh man that's macabre. The real reason Boeing's new plane crashed twic...

Re: IRL: Fire loose in Our Lady’s Church in Paris

The fire suppression systems safe and allowed by regulations in France (Many just following along with the UNguidances) made it so installing any suppression system safe for the public to be exposed to would have required using the options just about as damaging to the art as the fire was. They arg...

Re: notebook upgrading, will heat be a problem?

P.S. How did I end up using a laptop as my main desktop PC? :? Because its very convenient, always having everything at hand. Oh you're definitely not alone in that nowadays. My mom's using her laptop probably at least 10 times more than her desktop now. And that's getting to be more and more commo...

Re: notebook upgrading, will heat be a problem?

It also lets you do basic checkups of HDDs and see the SMART data for both HDDs and SSDs. Extremely useful little program indeed. Funny thing, 80 C is a normal CPU temperature for my laptop at maximum load. They don't make such buff beasts anymore, at least not in 12-inch size. 35 Watts thermal pack...

Re: Blast from the past >_<

And just as I read that, something under my chair's wheel said "Crack!" It was the OEM CD that had fallen off the table. Died still sealed in its plastic wrapping :(... OUCH! That's epic irony and bad luck... Still, i think you probably CAN get a copy of that online if you manage to ask i...

Re: Worth a squee?

I looked at the picture, tried to imagine reading it, and recoiled in horror. If they're only doing ten copies, that's different. If they're smart each publisher will keep one copy in their archives, and send copies to whatever Japan has comparable to our Library of Congress. That would still leave...

Oh, those Japanese, always pulling on the kawaii strings… https://soranews24.com/2019/04/21/looking-for-a-unique-afternoon-tea-in-tokyo-have-a-picnic-indoors-at-fruit-picnic-in-harajuku/ An indoor outdoor picnic indeed. That's neat really. An impressively novel concept. I expect it needs a large cu...

Re: Favourite Youtube videos v2.0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njTxV8blffc — “Ocean Loader v2” by Martin Galway. I once bought an Ocean game for the C64 I owned back then. Can’t recall what game, but this I do remember. Yeah, the only good thing about long loading times, LOTS of music made for it. I think the Last Ninja 1 and 2 ...
